Software MailMover

Is MailMover compatible with different clients and platforms?
Yes, MailMover for Server Data can migrate all Samsung Contact server-stored data, regardless of the client. This includes OMGUI client, all versions of Outlook, and cc:Mail. For mailboxes or address books on the end-users’ local machines, one of the other MailMover products can address your needs. This chart can help you decide:

What are the advantages of using a server-side, administrator-driven software when migrating mailboxes from the Samsung Contact server?
Manual migration, performed by either end-users or IT staff, may appear more cost effective on the surface. However, data loss, the inability to reply to migrated messages, and the non-value-added time spent performing the migration by both IT staff and end-users, make manual migration unproductive and costly. There is no comparison to the fully automated capability of MailMover 3.0 products.

Can Samsung Contact coexist with Exchange during the migration process?
Most definitely! Coexistence is an important step in the whole migration process because it allows end-users to send e-mail to each other and prevents data loss during the migration. Directory synchronization and the management of communication between the two servers allow coexistence. The generic automation scripts included with MailMover for Server Data and MailMover for Outlook PSTs Plus can help achieve this coexistence during the migration process.
Can the migration process be automated?
Yes. Generic automation scripts are included with MailMover for Server Data and MailMover for Outlook PSTs Plus to control the migration process including public distribution list synchronization, Samsung Contact mailbox auto-forwarding, and directory updates. Migrations using our other MailMover products can also be automated using a customized set of scripts.
How is the migrated data imported to Exchange?

If you are going to Exchange 2003, you can use Microsoft's ExMerge tool, which is included with Exchange, to import migrated .pst files into Exchange. If you are going to Exchange 2007, you can either use ExMerge, which could be installed onto the migration machine with MailMover, or you can use the Exchange 2007 import mailbox tool.

Can personal distribution lists on the Samsung Contact server be migrated?
Yes. MailMover for Server Data can migrate personal distribution lists located on the server to the Contacts folder.
Can MailMover handle different languages around the world, such as Japanese or Finnish?
Yes. MailMover has been designed to automatically migrate all Microsoft supported National Language character sets — including multi-byte and double-byte character sets — for folders, messages and addresses for complex foreign languages (e.g., Japanese, Chinese, Finnish, etc.). Furthermore, the code page within the INI file can also be specified for the language of your users.
Is it possible to change folder names during the migration to a specific language or heading?
Yes. Within MailMover, you can change folder names during the migration process via the Folder Map option.
Can MailMover products limit the data migrated to the past 9 months, for example? What happens to the rest of the data?
Yes. MailMover has several filtering features available. You can filter the data via the .ini file: message attachment size, date, and mailbox size. This is especially useful for environments that had no limits on the Samsung Contact server, but will have limits on the Exchange server. If you would like to keep the filtered data, you can also choose to divert the filtered data into a separate .pst file. This allows end-users to retain valuable business information, but not clutter the new Exchange server!
If my end-users have Outlook as a client, will MailMover migrate the Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, Journals, and Notes?
Yes. All MAPI data, including Outlook PIM data is migrated. Additionally, MAPI properties on messages and folders are also migrated. These properties include flags, properties, and icons.
Can MailMover be customized to migrate my unique email environment?
Yes. By creating an INI file prior to the migration, you can define certain parameters to customize the migration. With MailMover, there are also automation scripts that can also be customized to your email environment.
Does MailMover check for errors during the migration process?
Yes. It can also provide the administrator with conversion reports via email.
Can MailMover filter data? Can I retain the filtered data so it won’t be lost?
Yes. This is especially useful for environments that never had limits on the OpenMail server, but will have quotas on the Samsung Contact server. There are several ways you can filter the data via the INI file: message attachment size, date, and mailbox size. You can also choose to divert the filtered data into a PST file. This allows the users to retain valuable business information, but not clutter the new Exchange server!
We have a complex and non-standard Samsung Contact address system. How does MailMover handle my unique addressing requirements?
