Do I need to follow a special procedure when moving mailboxes between servers?
Yes. It is possible to move mailboxes between storage groups or databases on the same server without making any changes inside of ERM. However, in the event that the mailbox will move between servers additional steps are necessary to complete the move:
  1. Make sure both servers are running Exchange Resource Manager
  2. Note any per-resource configuration changes for the resource
  3. Un-Manage the mailbox while it resides on the source server
  4. Move the mailbox to the destination server
  5. Re-Manage the mailbox on the destination server
  6. Re-create any per-resource configuration changes
I need to change the location of the database. How do I migrate the information?
Copy the database to the new location and update the ERM Data Location field, from the Data Storage tab of the Product Configuration, to point to the new location. The mailbox browser must be closed and re-opened after this is complete.

I need to move ERM to different machine. What do I need to do?
The following steps can be used to ensure that ERM is properly transferred to a different Exchange server in the same organization while preserving any configuration changes made to the global or resource configuration properties:

     A.    Contact Simpler-Webb technical support with the serial number of the existing license file to obtain a license file for
             the target Exchange server.
     B.    Follow the installation guide to install ERM on the target Exchange server. For instructions on installing ERM, please
download one of the following: Installation & Upgrade Guide - Stand Alone or Installation & Upgrade Guide - Cluster.
     C.    Register the license file received from Simpler-Webb on the target Exchange server.
     D.    Un-manage your resources on the source server.
     E.    Copy the ERM database file (by default, C:\Program Files\Simpler-Webb\Exchange Resource
Manager\Data\ERM_RCS.mdb) from the source Exchange server to the target server (replace the database file that
was created during installation on the target server).
     F.     Move the managed resource mailboxes to the target Exchange server.
     G.    Re-manage the resource mailboxes on the target Exchange server.
I wasn't able to complete the installation process. Why?
Ensure that the following services are enabled and running: 1) Distributed Transaction Coordinator (DTC) service, and 2) COM+ Event System. Also, ensure that you are able to view the COM+ applications container in the Component Services console. Finally, check to make sure the ERM Service Account has local administrator rights and Exchange administrator rights on the server that will host Exchange Resource Manager. See the User Guide for further instructions on how to accomplish this.
I need to uninstall the product. What should I do?
Un-manage all ERM managed resources and then use the Install / Uninstall functionality from Windows Add/Remove Programs.
